The title ought to give away the storyline, but to be a little more specific, it's a lot like Deep Blue Sea and The Abyss, minus the camp value and special effects, respectively.
The story involves an undersea research center, nefarious government plots, and, of course, some really upset sharks. Central to all of this is Corin Nemec, sporting a ridiculous David Spade hairdo, and a bevy of impossibly hot researchers by his side (including Vanessa Angel). Here's the twist, though: The sharks aren't attacking because of research gone wrong, but because of some alien spaceship that dropped into the ocean, where it deposited red 'crazy' crystals that the sharks have eaten. And the aliens want their crazy crystals back!
Lest you think this might be funny, rest assured everyone takes this all with the utmost seriousness. But Nemec's dramatic acting, coupled with Angel's rote line readings provide plenty of opportunities to laugh. Of course, this kind of entertainment wears thin, quickly, and in the end we're left with nothing to do but to root for the sharks.
