Confessed and convicted serial killer Simon (Paolo Rotondo) has shrink (Rebecca Hobbs) convinced he's rehabilitated. He relives his crimes (amid endless showers of black, not red, blood) while shrink slowly uncovers the truth: That 'the ugly' -- blood-crusted demons -- have possessed him somehow. It comes across like most is-he-crazy-or-not? thrillers, though the Kiwi sentiment and goofy black blood symbolism really shine through. Not that that's necessarily a good thing. An abrupt ending makes the whole affair rather forgettable.
