The Thomas Crown Affair (1968)

A film review by Christopher Null - Copyright © 1999 Filmcritic.com

A bit kitschy in plotting, and very kitschy in production (with multiple frames of action occuring simultaneously), not to mention an overpowering, cheeseball score, the original Thomas Crown Affair could have been quite a silly sight.

Nevertheless, Jewison and McQueen especially manage to pull this affair into respectability, even memorability. A clever counterpoint to a film like Stanley Kubrick's The Killing. Remade (quite successfully) in 1999.
