The Package

A film review by Christopher Null - Copyright © 1999 Filmcritic.com

Man, I really wanted to like The Package. It's got a great pedigree in the cast and crew department, and I was totally in the mood for a political thriller. Alas, The Package turned out to be tube socks, a warmed-over concoction of Cold War paranoia (check the production date), that gives us Gene Hackman rather haphazardly uncovering a plot to assassinate the President, all part of a military-industrial-complex meant to continue the era of nuclear proliferation. Skip it. There are plenty of other great political pot boilers from the '80s if you want to relive the Reagan years.
