Pumping Iron

A film review by Christopher Null - Copyright © 2004 Filmcritic.com

It's a living, breathing freakshow in Pumping Iron, as George Butler and Robert Fiore track Arnold Schwarzenegger during his final run for Mr. Olympia along with those that would challenge him, including a young Lou Ferrigno. It's part a personality piece, part a look into the creepy-as-hell world of bodybuilding. To hear the future governer wax about his veins, the ladies, posing, pumping, and various bodily functions is nothing short of bizarre. Recommended -- not so much for its insight, but more in a Rocky Horror sort of way.
