Pump Up the Volume
A teen anthem and guilty pleasure, the decidedly silly/ridiculous Pump Up the Volume was a reinvention of Christian Slater's Heathers performance and gave us an early Samantha Mathis as his semi-goth muse. Slater's "Hard Harry" runs a pirate radio station every night because he can't get up the nerve to actually talk to anyone in the real world. Harry feels that encouraging sedition and even suicide is good, sending the school into a full-blown panic. The evil school district and clueless dad feel otherwise. Will Harry get busted? It doesn't really matter in the end, but you'll get good vibes off the film as you fondly remember the stupid things you did as a teen.
