Gale Force
I have a soft spot for reality TV, but Treat Williams' latest C-grade actioner is so bad it can't even keep a Survivor-head like me intrigued.
From the get-go, the movie is nothing but ridiculous. Williams plays a "bad boy" cop who never listens to his captain, and thus tries to take on a gang of kidnappers all by himself. He even drives his car off a suspension bridge -- and manages to land it on the pavement, still driving along!
His antics get him suspended, and soon enough he's on a reality show called Treasure Hunt, where eight people search for $10 million! Not only is it 10 times the prize of any real game show, it's buried in cash. Somehow, the host (think Mark DeCarlo) owes bookies a lot of money, so he pays off some ex-Navy SEALs to kill the cast so he can get the money himself. Meanwhile, a hurricane is coming, "out of nowhere." If you don't think Treat can get his fat self and his fellow cast members out of this jam, well, you haven't seen The Substitute 4.
People often tell me how stupid reality TV is. To those who prefer fictional fare, I give you... Gale Force.
