Absolute Beginners

A film review by Christopher Null - Copyright © 2002 Filmcritic.com

Julien Temple's musical adaptation of a classic novel about life in 1950s' London is about as awful as the rock drama can get, with a hapless photographer (Eddie O'Connell) losing his glamour gal (Patsy Kensit, in her screen debut) to a much older fashion designer (James Fox), who gives her instant street cred. Totally forgettable songs, dance numbers, and a ridiculous plot make Absolute Beginners look like absolute junk.
