Scanners

"I'm a scanner."

David Cronenberg's sci-fi/horror classic is one of his best and has entered the phrase "scanner" into the genre's lexicon -- meaning a person with exceptional telepathic powers, usually utilized to explode people's heads, set them on fire, and cause mayhem in whatever way they can.

Scanners the movie involves a "good" scanner (Stephen Lack) recruited to end the tyranny of the rogue scanners prowling across the country and wreaking havoc by continually exploding people's heads. It's gory, fast-paced, and tons of fun despite its budget constraints -- and an absolute must-see cult classic for horror and sci-fi fans alike.
