The Newsdesk 07.13.09 - Reynolds Is Green Lantern; Bruno Shocks the Box Office

Nick Nadel

Ryan Reynolds has been cast as Green Lantern in the Warner Bros. movie set to begin production in January. Now who's going to play G'nort, the talking Green Lantern dog?

Bruno took the top spot at the box office this past weekend, racking up $30.4 million in ticket sales. Meanwhile, I Love You, Beth Cooper is this summer's The Love Guru, tanking in seventh place with $5 million.

• Steven Soderbergh and Terence Stamp reportedly want to make a sequel to The Limey. Why not just update all of your movies, Steven? Sex, Lies, and Digital Video, perhaps?

Nicole Kidman will star and produce in Little Bee, a South African drama based on the best-selling novel by Chris Cleave.

• Susan Sarandon and John Goodman will assist Al Pacino in the Dr. Kevorkian biopic from HBO Films.

• The first photo from Wes Anderson's stop-motion family film The Fantastic Mr. Fox has leaked. Creepy good, or creepy bad? The verdict is still out on this one.
