• Heath Ledger was nominated for a posthumous Best Supporting Actor Oscar for The Dark Knight. (For a complete list of nominees, click here.)
• Warner Bros. is planning on turning the Tom and Jerry cartoons into a CGI Alvin and the Chipmunks-like franchise. The movie will find the duo teaming up in a Homeward Bound-style tale. That's wrong on so many levels.
• The Razzie Awards bestowed seven nominations on Mike Myers's Love Guru. Meet the Spartans, Disaster Movie, and Paris Hilton's Hottie & the Nottie were among the other nominees. Kim Kardashian went the Halle Berry route and thanked the voters for her nomination.
• Despite tanking with The Spirit, producer Michael Uslan is intent on trying pulp heroics again with a new version of The Shadow. He hints that we'll be seeing multiple Shadows -- none of which will be played by Alec Baldwin, unfortunately.
• Screenwriter John August (Big Fish) has landed two high-profile gigs, scripting Preacher, for Sam Mendes, and Frankenweenie, for Tim Burton. August is good, but it'll be difficult to improve on the Burton original of Frankenweenie.
• Mark Ruffalo is joining the growing ranks of character actors turned directors, helming the Orlando Bloom-Laura Linney feature Sympathy for Delicious.
