The Crow Will Fly Again Thanks to Blade Director

Just like slain rock musician Eric Draven rose from the grave to avenge his true love, The Crow is a franchise that just won't die. James O'Barr's beloved character -- created as a means of dealing with the death of his girlfriend -- has spawned comics, book anthologies, a short-lived TV series, and big screen adaptations. (The most successful movie version, 1994's The Crow, starred the late Brandon Lee, who died tragically during production.)

Last year, director Stephen Norrington (Blade) announced plans to "reinvent" the Crow with a new film adaptation for Relativity Media. Norrington says his version will ditch the Gothic trappings of Alex Proyas' cult hit for a "realistic, hard-edged and mysterious, almost documentary-style" quality. Time will tell if the director behind The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen can improve upon the original.
