Cowboys and laser guns rarely mix outside of the playground (though Serenity and The Wild Wild West spring to mind). This is why we need High Tech Noon, which touches up the classic Western with space-age special effects, turning Gary Cooper and Grace Kelly into an Old West Luke and Leia as they battle the Miller gang with satellites, force fields, and other anachronistic contrivances.
Some of the effects are Star Trek-era cheesy, but others are remarkably sophisticated for a DIY project -- the sight of four outlaws materializing through a transdimensional portal will make you wish this short was a full-length remake.
