Back in the day, Raquel Welch was the go-to actress for campy science-fiction. She lit up the screen as Cora in Fantastic Voyage and gave new shape to the classic fur bikini in One Million Years B.C. (And still she found time to play Captain Nirvana on Mork & Mindy.) Never mind her career, the woman was a living work of science-fiction.
In 1970, she made a TV variety special -- that's what you did back then when you were a celebrity. The brilliantly titled RAQUEL! was an oddball extravaganza that included a duet with Tom Jones, a John Wayne cameo and Bob Hope singing the Beatles' Rocky Raccoon. But the highlight in this video is the space-girl dance number, with costumes by Bob Mackie.
